Aircraft Cessna 182P Skylane crashed during emergency landing near Trinidad in Bolivia, causing death of the pilot. The aircraft takeoff from Santa Cruz, but fell ashore near the Trinidad airport. The aircraft with registration number 2865, from the municipality of San Borja, of Beni, declared an emergency and landed near the community of Puerto Ballivián.
“The plane Cessna 182P Skylane (CP 1254) crashed near the Trinidad airport. It came from El Trompillo (Santa Cruz), bound for Trinidad”, said regional head of the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), Carlos Claure. He explained that inspectors of the DGAC verify how this accident occurred.
It was found that 32-year-old local resident died at the accident, as he was piloting the plane. The investigation for the root cause is under way. The local authorities are mobilized to assess the reason for the crash.
The Cessna 182 Skylane is an American four-seat, single-engined light airplane, built by Cessna of Wichita, Kansas. It has the option of adding two child seats, installed in the baggage area. Cessna 182P Skylane is four-seat light aircraft with fixed landing gear, powered by a 230 hp (172 kW) Continental O-470-R or O-470-S piston engine, gross weight 2,950 lb (1,338 kg).
