The number of aviation accidents in Russia in the first nine months of 2017 decreased by more than 53% compared to the same period of the previous year, and the casualties as a result of air accidents – by 81.1%. As follows from the comparative characteristics of emergencies, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, for the first nine months of 2017, 15 aviation accidents were recorded on the territory of Russia, which is 53.1% less than in the previous year.
The victims of air crashes in 2017, according to rescuers, were 22 people, compared to 119 in 2016, representing a decrease of 81.1%. The number of people injured in air crashes fell significantly from 132 in 2016 to 29 in 2017
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, in the past years, most accidents and disasters occurred in the South (24%), Far East (24%) and Central (17%) federal districts. At the same time, the largest number of emergency situations with aircraft fell to the Southern Federal District (33%), and helicopters to the Far Eastern (45%).
Two years ago, the greatest accidents were with H-32 Bekas, An-2, MiG-29, Su-24 and Mi-8 helicopters.
In recent years, the risks of emergencies arising in the course of economic activity and global climate change are a significant threat to the population and economic objects. Over the past 20 years, more than 3 million people in the world have been the victims of man-made and natural disasters, and over 800 million people have been injured.
In the zones of possible impact of the damaging factors, in the case of accidents at critical and potentially hazardous sites, live more than 90 million Russians, or 60% of the population of the country. The annual economic damage (direct and indirect) from emergencies of various types can reach 1.5-2% of the gross domestic product in range of 675-900 billion rubles.
