Tajikistan airline Somon Air received IATA certificate at official ceremony in a solemn atmosphere at the Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel. At the awarding ceremony participated representatives of state structures of the Republic of Tajikistan (RT), heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Tajikistan, heads of international organizations accredited in Tajikistan.
The certificate was presented to the Director General of Somon Air Tom Hallam and IATA Regional Director Raimonds Gruntins.
“Security is above all for Somon Air. We have already received an IOSA operational safety audit certificate twice, which is a mandatory requirement for membership in IATA”, said Director General of Somon Air, Tom Hallam
“The entry of Somon Air into IATA membership corresponds to the strategic policy of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the development of international communications through the opening of air services to various countries of the world”, said the Transport Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khudoyor Zavqibek.
Somon Air is the first private airline in Tajikistan with an office headquartered in Dushanbe. The airline operations are based at Dushanbe International Airport. The airline started operating on February 5, 2008 with regular flights to Moscow and Dubai. Somon Air also serves as the official carrier of President of the Republic of Tajikistan and other Tajikistan high-ranking officials. Since formation, Somon Air has been primarily focused on passenger service and transportation to Eastern Europe and other locations. Most flights to international destinations operate from Dushanbe.
