Two people died after small airplane Van’s RV-4 crashed at Furnes in Ringsaker. The aircraft crashed on a field between Frobergvegen and Kartorpvegen, about 500 meters from Olrud. The police were notified of the accident and at the scene were sent rescuers and inspectors to assess the situations. The main rescue center assists local police, in addition to Hamar Fire Services and on-site ambulances. Unfortunately when they arrived the two people on board were already dead.
The cause of the accident is not known, but the Airport Commission and Technicians are notified, so the investigation is under way.
Fortunately during the accident there were no injured people on the ground. Witnesses of the accident felt a terrible smell shortly after crash, but there was no fire and explosion.
Van’s RV-4 is a low-winged aluminum flight, with two seats one after the other. It seats two people in a tandem seating configuration with the pilot accommodated in the front seat. The Van’s RV series has become the most popular kit-built aircraft in the world. The RV-4 is the second most popular RV model, outsold only by the now discontinued RV-6. The RV-4 airframe will accept a range of engines up to 180 hp (134 kW), including the Lycoming O-360. The RV-4 has a new wing, with increased wingspan and wing area over the RV-3. The RV-4 is designed for sport aerobatics.
