Vintage single-engine plane Williams’ Navion A made a rough landing on a Highway 45 near Quitman, Mississippi. No-one was hurt during the accident, but the vintage aircraft was partially damaged during the rough landing.
The plane had left Meridian Aviation’s Key Field and was headed toward Gulf Shores, Alabama, for a weekend getaway. The accident happened after aircraft experienced engine difficulties during flight and was forced to land on northbound side of the highway.
Miraculously, the pilot walked away completely unharmed and no one on the ground was injured either
“Happy to be here. Happy to be in one piece”, said the pilot Boyd Williams. “Thankful nobody on the road was hurt. Thankful that both of my children came here and we’re sharing another day together”, added he.
The plane had enough fuel, but there were problems with the engine in the air, and the pilot was forced to get on the highway. Highway 45 was filled with cars heading toward the beach on a Friday afternoon when Williams’ Navion A single-engine plane lost power. Lucky no one was hurt, commented the sheriff of the county.
The investigation for the root cause of the accident is under way.
